Massachusetts REALTOR Profile

The following results were recently released from the 2007 Member Profile for Massachusetts. The study is conducted by the National Association of REALTORS® every two years on both a national and state level.

Here are some interesting facts from the Massachusetts Association of Realtors (MAR) most recent survey:

*60 percent of MAR members are female and 40 percent are male
*The median age of all Massachusetts REALTORS® is 54
*50 percent of MAR members have at least a bachelor’s degree
*The median gross income for a sales agent is $31,700
*The median gross income for a broker/owner is $71,900

These results are very enlightening to the general public since most people falsely believe that REALTORS are all millionaires. The work can be very challenging and often very gratifying. The problem often lies in the fact that sometimes a seller or buyer changes their mind or the home does not sell–the Realtor may have spent countless advertising dollars and hours of effort but does not get a penny back unless there is a sale.
